A vaccine that could treat genetic heart conditions that cause sudden death could be available in the UK within a few years.

Tehsil.biz reports with reference to foreign media that an international team of researchers is developing a tool that can eliminate hereditary heart muscle diseases once and for all by rewriting DNA to edit defective genes. They have received £30 million from the British Heart Foundation to fund their research.

In just a few years, a therapeutic injection could be used to prevent the disease in family members carrying the same defective gene, it has been reported.

It is noted that 12 people under the age of 35 die every week in Britain from unspecified heart disease.
