11-year-old Azerbaijani Sura Mirac Abbassoy took the first place at the national junior wrestling championship held in the ancient city of Porvoo, Finland.

Ulviya Jabbarova, the coordinator of the Coordinating Council of Scandinavian Azerbaijanis in Finland, said that Abbassoy, who competed in the weight category of 39 kg among girls, won in all meetings. Our compatriot, who finished the final match with a score of 8: 4, was awarded the title of champion of Finland among juniors.

Earlier, our compatriot successfully participated in the European tournament "Umea Wrestling Battle" held on October 15-17, 2021 in Umea, Sweden. He took the second place in that tournament and won a silver medal.

It should be noted that the athlete's father Ruzi Abbassoy is a coach of the HPM sports club in Helsinki.

The State Committee for Work with the Diaspora congratulates Sura Miraj Abbas and his parents on becoming the country's champion and wishes our compatriot continued success in his education and sports career.
