On October 15-21, 2021, the European Chess Championship was organized by the European Chess Union in a hybrid format.
According to Tehsil.biz, in the championship among boys and girls aged 8-20, 18-year-old boys from Sumgayit Sports and Chess School No. 2 of the Republican Sports Center "Education" Ugur Ilyasli, pupils of the Republican Sports Center "Education" No. 4 Ayan Allahverdiyeva, a student of the Specialized Olympic Reserve Children and Youth Sports and Chess School, became the European champion among girls under 16 with 7.5 points.
Malak Ismayil, another pupil of Sumgayit City Children and Youth Sports and Chess School No. 2 of the Republican Sports Center "Education" scored 7 points among 18-year-old girls and won the silver medal of the European Championship. Saadat Bashirli won a bronze medal among girls under 10 with 6.5 points.
