An event dedicated to "October 18 - Independence Day" was held at the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry on October 18.

The event, which began with the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was attended by the rector of ADNSU, Professor Mustafa Babanli, vice-rectors, faculty, as well as students had the opportunity to participate in the event online.

Opening the event, ADNSU Rector, Professor Mustafa Babanli congratulated the participants on the occasion of "Independence Day" and spoke about the historical significance of the adoption of the Constitutional Act on State Independence on October 18, 1991, as well as Azerbaijan's efforts to strengthen state independence. He spoke about the difficult but glorious path of his people. October 18 - Rector M.Babanli said he was proud that the Restoration of Independence coincided with the year of victory in our country - a time when our lands were liberated from occupation. He thanked God for the martyrs who gave us this victory.

Then the memory of the martyrs of the Great Patriotic War was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Speaking at the event, Professor Jamal Mustafayev, Head of the Department of Social Sciences of ADNSU, spoke about the history of our country's independence, the factors that determine our independence, the struggle of the Azerbaijani people for national liberation and the difficulties it faces.

Rufat Rustamov, a student of ADNSU's group 623.19, said that maintaining independence was much more difficult than gaining it, noting that Azerbaijan had gained independence twice in a century.
