The recent increase in infection statistics, as well as the death of Askerov Kamil, a 9th grade student at Sumgayit Secondary School No. 31, from the coronavirus yesterday, has sparked discussions about school closures.

Speaking to BAKU.WS, Jasarat Valehov, head of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Education, said that in any case there is no dangerous situation and the training process will continue in secondary schools, Tehsil.biz reports. Jasarat Valehov also commented on the news of the death of a schoolgirl who died of a coronavirus yesterday:

"The infection is local," he said. First of all, it is not a case of infection in school. It is unknown exactly where that student was infected. Because he was at school until October 5. At that time, as well as after that, no cases of infection were registered in the class. If such cases persist and increase, then the school and, if local, the class is transferred to distance education.

In general, there is no danger and fear. We have also published statistics on this. A very small number of classes go to distance education.

It should be noted that 241 classes have been transferred to distance education in Azerbaijan so far. The statement came from the Ministry of Education. 35 of them have already returned to full-time education, and distance education continues in 206 classes.

It was noted that full-time education was restored in 26 of the 140 classes transferred to distance education in Baku. Distance education continues in 114 classes.
