Nargiz Hajiyeva, a young political researcher and doctoral student at the Foreign Relations Department of the International Cooperation Department of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics, received the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship / Schweizerische Bundes-Stzendi of the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship awarded by the Swiss Confederation for international doctoral students during the 2021-2022 academic year. Winner of the Ph.D Research Fellowship.

N. Hajiyeva, who won among more than 2,000 doctoral students and researchers from 194 countries, spent a year within the framework of the scholarship program in St. Petersburg, one of the top universities in Europe. He will conduct his doctoral research at the School of Political Economy and Political Science at the University of Gallen under the supervision of Professor Dirk Lehmkuhl, head of the Center for European Politics and the South Caucasus.

The topic of Hajiyeva's dissertation is "Economic and legal assessment of illegal imports and exports in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan during the occupation." The purpose of the dissertation is to investigate the illegal activities of Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding areas during the occupation, to analyze the violations of property faced by Azerbaijan in the import-export process in these areas, the illegal exploitation of goods, services and other natural resources. The study will make a significant contribution to the legalization of free trade in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, the organization of goods and services, the economic regulation of property rights and the implementation of appropriate economic, administrative and enforcement measures to prevent the illegal export and import of goods.
