From the first days of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, one of the biggest problems is the emergence of new mutated strains. The last strain mentioned is the Delta strain.

The Delta strain (B.1.617.2) was first recorded in October 2020 in the Indian village of Nagpur. In a short time, it proved to be more dangerous than the strain of Brazil and South Africa. If the first strain of the coronavirus could infect three people in one person, and four people in the Alpha (Kent) strain found in England, it is known that one person carrying the Delta strain could infect six people. This strain is characterized by higher virulence than other mutated strains (60%).

In other strains of the COVID-19 virus, the main symptom is fever, persistent cough, loss of taste or smell, while the Delta strain is more prone to headache, runny nose, and sore throat. Because these complaints are similar to the symptoms of the common cold, people do not suspect the COVID-19 virus and can infect more people. Therefore, anyone with such complaints should be examined by a doctor. Different symptoms such as stomach pain and diarrhea may also be noted.

The WHO reports that the Delta strain has already been registered in 96 countries. Delta plus (B.617.2.1), a subtype of the Delta strain, was first discovered on June 11. Infections have already been reported in 11 countries.

Every vaccine currently used in the world and in our country is effective against new mutated strains. Vaccines are also effective in transmitting the disease and reducing the risk of death.
In view of all this, every citizen should be vaccinated and strictly adhere to protective measures.
