Ira Khimich, a 10-year-old resident of Ukraine's Vinnytsia region, has died of old age.

According to RIA Novosti, the child's mother announced the death on her Facebook page.

"Ira died. Her heart stopped yesterday. I'm sorry we couldn't save you this time," she wrote on her social media account.

The girl suffered from progeria - a rare incurable genetic disease. The disease is also known as Hutchinson-Gilfor syndrome.

People suffering from this disease experience changes in the skin and internal organs caused by premature aging of the body. The baby develops normally for a few months, but then the aging process accelerates many times.

Although pediatric progeria can also be congenital, clinical signs usually appear in most of them between the ages of two and three. The child's physical growth is sharply delayed, the skin becomes thinner, dry and wrinkled.
