Another large grave has been discovered in the former school for local children from North America in the Canadian province of British Columbia.

APA reports that this was reported by CBC TV channel.

The school is located in Cranbrook and closed in 1970. 182 unnamed graves were found here. It is believed that these graves belonged to the dead children.

Last week, 751 unmarked graves were discovered in the area near a former boarding school for Indian tribes in Saskatchewan. In late May, the remains of 215 minors were found at another school for Indian children in British Columbia. Terrified by the news, the Canadian public demanded that the government conduct similar excavations in all Indian schools, the last of which was closed in 1996. There were also calls for the Roman Catholic Church to publish documents that would allow the discovery of such cemeteries and schools.

It should be noted that in 1876, during the presidency of Prime Minister John McDonald in Canada, an act was passed on the Indians - a law providing for the seizure of the lands of the indigenous peoples of the country for the needs of the federal government. In 1884, it was supplemented by the establishment of special schools called residents. In order to integrate the children of Indian tribes into Canadian society, they were forcibly taken to these boarding schools. According to statistics, at least 3,200 out of 150,000 students died from beatings and illnesses.
