The use of "salt lake" can cause cancer

We know that rheumatic diseases are common among the population, usually during the cold months. However, even after the warming, the number of people applying to the Department of Rheumatology and Gastroenterology of the Teaching Therapeutic Clinic of the Azerbaijan Medical University has increased. To clarify the reasons for this, we appealed to Professor Sahib Musayev, who heads the department.

Giving detailed information about rheumatic diseases, the professor noted that this field is one of the most difficult and still unexplored problems of medicine: “Rheumatic diseases are the newest field of medicine. Mixed connective tissue diseases, systemic lupus erythematosus, arthritic spondylitis, biosratic arthropathy, reactive arthritis and many other rheumatic diseases are among the unresolved diseases today. Rheumatic diseases damage most organs and tissues, including joints, skin, nerves, kidneys, lungs, heart, intestines, and brain.

Musayev said that a number of rheumatic diseases occurred not only in autumn and winter, but also in summer, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, dermotomyositis and gout. occurs during many climate changes. The disease is most prevalent in regions with photosensitization, ie excessive sun exposure, during the summer months. Red worms are most common in teenage girls and young mothers.

The head of the department noted that gout is one of the most common rheumatic diseases in the region. According to him, as a result of the accumulation of sodium-urate crystals inside the joint during this disease, an acute inflammatory process begins in the area, and after some time the joints are damaged.

Referring to some complications caused by gout, the professor said that it leads to chronic kidney disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes and obesity: “Gout is very common in people who eat foods rich in puril. The disease begins suddenly. The big toe is red. There is a serious restriction of movement in that area.
We also learned that if rheumatic patients become infected with COVID-19, they may have complications. In these people, the pathological processes are more severe, and the mortality rate is higher among them. Because the lungs of patients with scolberma infected with COVID are severely damaged, the tactics of the disease should be carried out in full accordance with the protocol.

Sometimes we see that people suffering from rheumatic diseases go to the "salt lakes" around Baku, which many of us mistakenly consider as a place of treatment. Answering our question, Professor Sahib Musayev said that taking a sunbath on the lake independently without a doctor's advice could be more harmful than good: “These people are not aware that they have poisoned themselves with the carcinogenic substance in salt. Erosion of the skin is observed in patients with rheumatoid arthritis using the "salt lake". Some even develop skin cancer. ”

We have entered the hot summer months. Everyone goes to the Caspian Sea to cool off, and at the same time wants to breathe the sea air. However, the professor advises that patients with rheumatoid arthritis should first consult a doctor. This can protect those patients from serious consequences tomorrow.
