Today is the day of remembrance of the National Hero of Azerbaijan Chingiz Mustafayev.

He was killed on June 15, 1992 in the village of Nakhchivanik, Khojaly region, from a shrapnel he received during the shooting.

Chingiz Mustafayev was born on August 29, 1960 in the Vladimir region of the Astrakhan region in a military family. In 1964 he moved to Baku with his family. In 1977, he graduated from school No. 167 in Yasamal district. Chingiz Mustafayev entered the Azerbaijan Medical Institute in 1977 and successfully graduated in 1983. After graduating, young Chingiz worked as a doctor in Devechi (now Shabran) for three years. In 1983, Chingiz Mustafayev sang the first Turkish rap song in the world.

He rose to the level of the leader of the Azerbaijani youth with his activity in the "Jangi" union, which he founded in 1985. This was the first mature manifestation of the process of renewal that began in the Soviet Union in Azerbaijan. The role he began to play in the cultural and social life of Azerbaijan was to present Chingiz Mustafayev as a reformist-innovative leader.

Although Chingiz was a doctor, he had a great passion for journalism. During the events of January 20, 1990, this idea manifested itself again.

Chingiz filmed the atrocities committed by the Soviet army in Baku. Since 1991, he has devoted his life to journalism.

After the beginning of the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, Chingiz turned to journalism. He started working as a reporter at the Azerbaijan State Television in 1991. It is not enough to operate only on the scale of Azerbaijan. His reports found their way to the leading American and European news agencies and televisions about the realities of Azerbaijan under the information blockade.

Censorship and severe bans on state television deprived Chingiz Mustafayev of a wide range of opportunities. Therefore, Chingiz was the initiator and creator of the creation of an autonomous institution, such as the studio 215 kl. As his reports were usually from the front, the 215 kl studio was perceived by the audience as a tribune informing about the war.

Chingiz Mustafayev created a real chronicle of the period of the Azerbaijani-Armenian war until 1992. He wrote operative news from all regions of the country, special reports on individual soldiers, as well as detailed information on the political process in Azerbaijan.

Although Chingiz Mustafayev acquainted the Azerbaijani audience with every interview, the world recognized him more with his film in Khojaly. With this film by Chingiz Mustafayev, the image of Armenia was seriously shaken all over the world. He was not only sent to war zones as a reporter. He held many positions on the front, as a soldier, an officer, and even a commander. His sharp and brief instructions to the soldiers leaving Lachin on the return ferry, and Genghis's emotional behavior if these orders are not obeyed, are dramatic pages in recent television history.

Chingiz Mustafayev died on the front, just as he was on the front as a TV journalist. Chingiz, who died on June 15, 1992 in the village of Nakhchivanik, Khojaly region, from a shrapnel shot during the shooting, did not turn off the camera until the end.

Today, a radio station and a fund named after Chingiz Mustafayev operate in Azerbaijan. But Genghis himself is not there - 29 years ago he left us forever.
