An educational channel should be opened in Azerbaijan. This proposal was made by Doctor of Philology, Professor Gulu Maharramli. He believes that the opening of such a channel is a public order, a social demand, and society has a special need for it.

Gulu Maharramli told Bizim.Media that this should be a very big element of television broadcasting policy:

"This is the experience of Azerbaijani television. During the Soviet era, there was a separate Education Editorial Office, and then the Education Channel was opened. Even now, specialized channels are growing. Enlightenment and culture should be under the control of the state, because they are a strategic issue outside market relations. Therefore, in accordance with the philosophy of public service broadcasting, I would like this television to be created on the balance of Public Television. In this channel, it is possible not only to teach, but also to form a worldview, to awaken ideas about the past, present and future, to promote values, to instill knowledge of history, geography and philosophy.

The professor said that for this there must be a clear concept, high-level specialists, directing solution.

"If the state allocates funds, it can be solved. In the world, education, enlightenment channels, specialized channels separated from them - history, geography, astronomy, hunting, etc. directional channels operate. In a developed country like Japan, Channel 2, a public service broadcaster, specializes in education. NHK has a budget of 6.5 billion euros.

Gulu Maharramli also criticized the simple entertainment programs: "Otherwise, the simple and low entertainment will take people's minds and turn them into zombies."
