Former head of the National Archives Department, Doctor of History Atakhan Pashayev has died.

According to "Tehsil.biz", he died at the age of 84.

It should be noted that Ataxan Pashayev was born in 1938 in Bashkend village of Julfa district of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In 1963, he graduated from the Faculty of History of the Azerbaijan State University with honors.

He began his career in 1962 as a senior researcher in the archive of the October Revolution and Socialist Construction. In 1963-1965, he worked as the chief methodologist of the Archives Department, in 1966-1982, the director of the Central State Literary and Art Archive of the Republic, and in 1982-1984, he worked as the head teacher of the Azerbaijan State Polytechnic Institute.

He was the head of the National Archives Department from 1984 to 2018.

Awarded with the Order of "Fame".
