Today is the birthday of the National Hero of Azerbaijan, martyred Major General Polad Hashimov.

According to Tehsil.biz, Polad Hashimov was born on January 2, 1975 in the village of Vendam, Gabala region.

He graduated from high school in Sumgayit. He studied at the Heydar Aliyev University. He then continued his education in Turkey.

Polad Hashimov took part in the fighting in April 2016 and was wounded. After that, he was promoted to the rank of general.

Major General Polad Hashimov was heroically killed during a battle in the direction of Tovuz region on the night of July 13-14.

On July 14, Major-General Polad Hashimov's brother-in-law was first brought to his native Vendam settlement of Gabala region, and then to Sumgayit, where he lived. The martyred general was buried on July 15 in the 2nd Alley of Honors.

On December 9, 2020, by the order of President Ilham Aliyev, he was named a National Hero.
