"The establishment of district education departments does not mean the abolition of local education departments. They will simply continue to operate as a sector within the new departments."

The statement came from Education Minister Emin Amrullayev at a briefing, Tehsil.biz reports.

The Minister said that employees of the district education department will not be unemployed:

"If they worked in these departments in the civil service on a permanent contract, they will be provided with jobs in the new structure. The issue of appointment in the local government structure or in the department itself will be considered."
