Red snow in the Alps has caused concern among scientists.
The statement came from Eric Marechal, a scientist at the French National Center for Scientific Research. He said that one of the main reasons for the red snow is global warming. As a result of the sharp warming of the air, single-celled organisms in the abdomen form a shield to protect themselves from the heat.
"As a result of rising temperatures since May, unicellular organisms form a protective shield with red molecules, which can be likened to a kind of sunscreen," he said.
